Introduction to Making Disciples (IMD)

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

--Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)

Introduction to Making Disciples (IMD) is a four-week short course in the General study path designed to provide the beginning steps for following Jesus' commission to go and make disciples of all the nations. The suggested audience for this course would include church leaders and those wishing to take a lead in their church.

IMD is a shortened, condensed version of the Ordination path course: Making Disciples (MDO). Since it is more condensed, IMD requires the student to spend approximately 30 minutes to an hour a day for reading and study at home. The weekly sessions will follow the small-group format and will include discussions, question and answer periods, practical exercises, and role-playing exercises.

The IMD course is centered around the book, Real-Life Discipleship: Building Churches That Make Disciples, written by Jim Putman, copyrighted in 2010, and published by NavPress. Hardback, soft cover, and electronic versions are acceptable and available at Christian Book Distributors,, Barnes & Noble and other sources. This book is required for this course.
